Sarah Bernstein

Ms. Bernstein has a Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science (Clinical Nurse Specialist in Oncology), with minors in patient education and pain management from the University of Maryland at Baltimore. At Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Ms. Bernstein functions as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the Department of Gynecologic Oncology. She serves as a clinical expert to patients, family members and colleagues and serves as a resourc to health care professionals regarding oncology research and patient care. She assists patients and their families with cancer treatment plans and provides oncology therapy counseling and guidance to patients and their families.

Ms. Bernstein has provided oncology consultative services in Amman, Jordan and Belfast, Ireland to facilities starting new oncology programs and beginning Phase I clinical trials. She lectures extensively in nursing oncology education, pain and palliative care and oncology research. She has published a book chapter and several articles and posters in oncology and vaccines research. Prior to working with the Gynecologic Oncology Group at WRAMC, Ms. Bernstein worked for the National Cancer Institute for nine years as the protocol coordinator for several vaccine trials.
