Clinical Staff
Melissa Pierre, R.N., B.S.N.
Ms. Pierre received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. At Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Ms. Pierre functions as a case manager for the Department of Gynecologic Oncology. She manages a large group of gynecologic oncology patients. These patients may be undergoing chemotherapy, participating in clinical trials, undergoing radiation therapy, need counseling for surgery or need long-term follow up assistance. Her role includes extensive patient teaching related to all of the above, as well as palliative care, symptom management and hospice care.
Ms. Pierre also assists the GYN Oncology attending, fellows, residents, interns and medical students with patient requirements and educational needs. Prior to her position at WRAMC, Ms. Pierre worked as a staff nurse on a general surgery unit, a research nurse for the General Cardiology Research Center and as staff nurse in GYN Oncology.
