Brandy Sims, R.N., M.S.N.
Mrs. Sims received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing (specialty in Women’s Health) from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. She is licensed in D.C. and Maryland as an Advanced Practice Nurse. At Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC), Mrs. Sims functions as nurse coordinator/educator for the Colposcopy and LEEP clinics for the Department of Gynecologic Oncology. She educates, manages, tracks and coordinates appointments for more than 550 dysplasia patients from WRAMC and other military medical facilities in the National Capital Area. Her role includes educating patients regarding human papilloma virus (HPV), dysplasia and follow-up recommendations or treatment plans.
She serves as a resource not only to patients and their families, but also to other providers of the health care team regarding recommendations for dysplasia patients. Currently, Mrs. Sims practices as a Nurse Practitioner several days a month at a community clinic. Prior to her position at WRAMC, Mrs. Sims worked as a nurse specialist on the Women’s Health Unit, serving as a nurse in the nursery, labor and delivery and postpartum units at Malcolm Grove Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base.
