Soundia Akerele, M.S.
Ms. Akerele received her undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University and her Masters in Science in Biotechnology, with a concentration in Regulatory Affairs, from Johns Hopkins University. At the GDC, she focuses on preparing protocols and obtaining IRB and FDA approval for investigational clinical studies, as well as epidemiologic and tissue-based studies.
Ms. Akerele began her career as a financial analyst at Wachovia Bank, focusing on commercial lending to Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology companies. Determined to learn more about drug development and the emerging field of biotechnology, she accepted a fellowship at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, GA, where she worked on developing a novel vaccine for Streptococcus Pneumonia. She then transitioned into regulatory affairs, initially working on the approval of medical device products at Becker and Associates Consulting, Washington, D.C..
