CPT Michael Stany, M.D.

Dr. Stany attended the University of Notre Dame on a ROTC scholarship. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1998 with a degree in pre-professional science. From there he attended the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and graduated in 2002 with High Distinction. He recently completed his residency training at the Uniformed Services Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the National Capitol Consortium in Washington, D.C..

Since beginning his residency, Dr. Stany has been very involved in research. He has presented his research at several national meetings, including the American College of Ob/Gyn Armed Forces District meetings and the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists Annual meetings. He received the Society of Gynecologic Oncologists’ 2005 Clinical Practice Poster Award, as well as the Chairman’s Award for Scientific Paper at the Armed Forces District meeting in 2005.

Dr. Stany has also been recognized for his clinical accomplishments. In 2006 he received the “Special Excellence in Endoscopic Procedures Award” sponsored by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. This award was presented by his program to the graduating resident with the best surgical skills. Dr. Stany plans to continue expanding his research and clinic experience during his GYN Oncology fellowship training at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Washington Hospital Center.
