Maj Jan S. Sunde, Gynecologic Oncology Fellow

Dr. Sunde is a third-year Gynecologic Oncology Fellow. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1983, and attended medical school at Texas Tech University School of Medicine, from 1984 to 1988. He completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the El Paso campus of Texas Tech School of Medicine in 1992. He worked primarily at Group Health Cooperative in Redmond, Washington from 1992 until 2000 taking a four month break in 1995 to work at a mission hospital in Ecuador. He then worked in the Gynecologic Oncology division of the Norwegian Radium Hospital in Oslo, Norway for one year beginning in 2000, and subsequently worked for one year at the Central Hospital of Rogaland in Stavanger, Norway.

Dr. Sunde joined the Army in 2002, and served as attending physician in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Walter Reed Army Medical Center from 2002 until 2004. He began his fellowship in 2004, researching genetic alterations in ovarian cancer at the National Cancer Institute, and has been providing patient care since July 2005. Areas of interest include laparoscopic surgery and fallopian tube and ovarian cancer.
