Karen Livornese, R.N.C, B.S.N, C.C.R.C, Research Nurse
Ms. Livornese received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester. She is a Certified Clinical Research Coordinator through the ACRP and is a Board Certified Mental Health Nurse through the ANCC. She serves as a Research Nurse Coordinator for the GDC and is the primary point of contact for patients participating in several research studies at WRAMC and other collaborating area hospitals. In this role, Ms. Livornese coordinates patient visits and performs extensive personal patient interviews on a variety of sensitive topics related to their cancer experience.
Prior to coming to the GDC, Ms. Livornese served as a Research Nurse Coordinator for both the Department of Neurology at WRAMC and at the Neuromuscular Diseases Section at the NIH. Ms. Livornese also served as a clinical nurse at the NIH for protocols pertaining to child-onset schizophrenia and mood disorders and has been a Research Coordinator for pharmaceutical trials in the private sector. In addition to her nursing degree, Ms. Livornese also holds a B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.A. from Virginia Tech.
